Oscar-winning production designer Paul Sylbert passes away *Los Angeles:* Paul Sylbert, who shared an Oscar for the production design for Warren Beattys "Heaven Can Wait" and worked on notable films like "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest", is dead. He was 88.

Sylbert passed away on November 19.

Producer Hawk Koch, who worked with him on five films, said: "Paul was one of a kind. He was as smart and well-read as anyone I have ever come in contact with, and he was respected by all that knew him. Aside from the work, he loved music, literature, opera, and friends."

Sylbert shared a second nomination for the 1991 Barbra Streisand film "The Prince of Tides".

He was the identical twin brother of fellow production designer Richard Sylbert, who died in 2002.

Sylbert's career began with a production designer credit on an early TV show, CBS' "Premiere," in 1951 and work as a set decorator on the CBS series "Suspense" the following year and stretched through the decades to encompass the Mel Gibson action film "Conspiracy Theory" in 1997, David Cunningham's highly regarded feature "To End All Wars" in 2001 and, finally, Daniel Kremer's little seen "A Trip to Swadades" in 2008.

He was married for a time to costume designer Althea Sylbert.

They collaborated on Arthur Hiller's 1967 contemporary comedy "The Tiger Makes Out", starring Eli Wallach and Anne Jackson; on 1971 comedic road movie "The Steagle", which he wrote and directed; and on 1972's "Bad Company", a Western directed by Robert Benton.

Sylbert worked on a wide range of projects as a production designer, but the stories were usually in a contemporary, realistic setting: Buzz Kulik's grim prison drama "Riot" (1969); the private eye story "The Drowning Pool", Milos Forman's classic "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"; Elaine May's intense two-hander "Mikey and Nicky" (1976), Paul Schrader's 1979 drama "Hardcore", about a man, played by George C. Scott, who searches the porn world for his missing daughter; Robert Benton's Oscar-winning Manhattan-set divorce drama "Kramer vs. Kramer".

There were a few period pieces or fantastical works along the way: Benton's Western "Bad Company" and his comedy "Nadine" starring Kim Basinger and set in 1950s Texas; Beatty's effervescent fantasy "Heaven Can Wait"; werewolf-themed horror movie "Wolfen", starring Albert Finney; and Mike Nichols' 1988 Neil Simon comedy "Biloxi Blues" set in Mississippi during WWII.

Sylbert also received a story credit on the 1981 Sylvester Stallone-Billy Dee Williams crime drama "Nighthawks."

Sylbert was born on in Brooklyn and fought in the Korean War. He and brother Richard attended Temple University's Tyler School of Art in Pennsylvania.

Sylbert also attended the Hans Hoffman School of Art and the Actors Studio. Many decades later, in 2004, Paul Sylbert returned to Temple, where he joined the faculty at the Film and Media Arts department, teaching courses in film studies. He also taught a course called "Film: The Creative Process" at the University of Pennsylvania in spring 2014.

Priyanka Chopra, who shares Halle Berry's hairstylist, recently did a photo shoot with her mane man, Castillo Ortiz, for an American glossy.

In a candid video doing the rounds of social media, Castillo plays a guessing game with PeeCee, taking on posers about what she likes to eat and her preferred style on a day off. While he got her breakfast choice right — bacon and eggs — he went wrong with her styling. Castillo's answer was a beautiful blow-out with berry lips, but PeeCee cut in to say it's a top knot and a red lip.

http://images.mid-day.com/images/2016/nov/24Yuvraj-Singh-s.jpg

Former sportsman, now an actor, but best known as star-cricketer Yuvraj Singh's dad, Yograj Singh, is obviously on cloud nine as his son is set to tie the knot with girlfriend Hazel Keech on November 29 in Chandigarh.

Says the proud father, "I am happy that these kids have chosen the right time to get married. They are both happy, beautiful people, who complement each other. For us, Hazel is coming in as the eldest daughter of the family. Her bond with Yuvi's younger siblings is spectacular. She is a second mother to the kids. Marriage is just an official label. For us, she has been part of our family for the last one year."*Yograj Singh*

Though unwilling to give out too many details, he does reveal that Yuvraj and Hazel had always fancied a simple wedding. A demonetisation reference is inevitable, since it seems to have wreaked havoc at quite a few Indian weddings this season. Has it affected his son's celebration too?

Yograj says, "Demonetisation has hit primarily those who have black money. It would've pinched us if we were doing something grand. We, as a family, have always believed in simplicity. In a country where a majority of the population lives in abject poverty, people should spend reasonably at weddings. It is better to make donations to charitable organisations on your wedding day, instead of wasting large amounts on lavish parties."

Yograj says "Yuvraj does not want to do 'fizool kharch'. The wedding will see a small number of 60 guests, which includes his son's close friends, family and colleagues from the Indian cricket team. "We are holding the sangeet, mehendi and reception on the same day, followed by a gurudwara shaadi, after which we will take Hazel for 'darshan' of our guru Baba Deep Singh Ji."

Though Yograj, himself divorced from Yuvraj's mom, Shabnam, has no pearls of wisdom to offer his son, he hopes that Yuvraj builds a wall around his relationship with Hazel.

Shraddha Kapoor seems to be surrounded by Dawood Ibrahims in her life - on screen, of course.

Her rumoured 'special friend' Farhan Akhtar plays the don in the Arjun Rampal-starrer 'Daddy'.*Siddhanth Kapoor on the sets of the film. Pic/Shadab Khan*

His pictures from the set of the film were recently leaked. And then Shraddha Kapoor's brother Siddhanth plays Dawood in Apoorva Lakhia's biopic Haseena, based on Dawood's sister.

Freida Pinto is not averse to acting in a Bollywood film.

The actress was the original choice for Navdeep Singh's 'NH10' (2015), but when the production changed hands, Anushka Sharma came on board.

Frieda, who flew down to her Mumbai residence for the Global Citizen India festival last weekend, is enjoying her time with family and friends in Malad where she grew up.

Last morning, producer Shobu Yarlagadda heaved a sigh of relief after the technician responsible for leaking his upcoming magnum opus Baahubali 2's nine-minute sequence was put behind bars. He even managed to joke about how thankful he is that the leaked scene wasn't the answer to the epic question — Kattappa ne Baahubali ko kyun maara?

Recounting the chain of events, Shobhu tells us, "A few fan clubs reached out to our digital team to inform that a video claiming to be the climax of 'Baahubali' sequel is being circulated on Whatsapp. When it was uploaded on YouTube, we knew the source of the leak was the studio where a technician was involved in post-production. We immediately traced the person, who has been handed over to the cyber crime cops."

The accused, Krishna Dayanand Chowdary, who had joined Annapurna Studios as a trainee designer a few months ago, is currently in police custody. He has been booked under Sections 66 and 43 (B) of the IT Act and Section 63 of the Copyright Act. The cops are also keeping a close eye on two of his aides. The incident has prompted the team to have their guards up. They aren't petrified, but will be cautious hereon.

http://images.mid-day.com/images/2016/nov/24Ranbir-Kapoor-s.jpg

Touted as the mother of all episodes, Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh will come together for this Sunday's episode of Koffee With Karan. In fact, host Karan Johar found the chat so hot to handle that he decided to run it earlier than other episodes that were slotted.

That the two actors shared the couch is a feat in itself since Ranbir's ex-flame, Deepika Padukone, is Ranveer's current ladylove. According to insiders, they will drop enough hints about their love lives that have been grist for gossip mills over the past few months.

Asked to imitate Ranbir's ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif, Ranveer showed off the actress' stock expressions, and Ranbir was far from upset. He laughed. Ranveer also reacted to Shah Rukh Khan's jibe on the first episode of the chat show when he said he was curious if the actor was wearing padded underwear in his next film.

"I am just saving them (makers of Befikre) post-production cost. Otherwise, they will have to do VFX on my red chillies," said Ranveer, tongue firmly in cheek, referring to SRK's production banner.

Later, Ranveer and Ranbir danced together on Katrina's Chikni Chameli item number from Agneepath.

With reports of him having kissed and made up with Kat recently surfacing, the Kapoor scion raised curiosity about his single status all over again when he said, "Being single is boring. If you want space, you should join NASA," and even admitted he is not heartbroken.

http://images.mid-day.com/images/2016/nov/24Alia-Bhatt-s.jpg

Her choice of roles belie her experience in showbiz, but Alia Bhatt explains there is "no checkbox to tick" when she hears out a story. "When the last line of the film is read during narration, I usually know if I want to take it up. It is mostly a gut feeling," she says.

However, there is obviously a flip side to working too hard and getting burned out too soon. "People ask if I will burn out, but I know I won't because I don't think about it at all. The more you analyse things, the less fun you have." Clearly, when one has a co-star as energetic as Shah Rukh Khan, talking about 'doing too much in too little time'
may not be apt conversation.

But does work leave her with little time for romance? The actress is careful to not comment on her relationship status or delve into rumours of a break-up with Sidharth Malhotra. Instead, she chooses to share her funda on love. "I have learnt to enjoy my own company a lot more than I used to earlier. I am not overtly romantic. I am not reticent, but I don't express emotions easily. But, that doesn't mean I don't believe in true love, magic or soul mates. I believe in 'old lobster couples walking claw-in-claw'," she says, referring to a popular 'Friends' episode.*Shah Rukh Khan*

Alia would rather talk about her 'Dear Zindagi' co-star Shah Rukh Khan, who is everything like Dr Jehangir Khan, his character in the Gauri Shinde film. "He is like a walking-talking sexipedia — he insists on being called that because labelled an encyclopedia is too passé. From talking about how Louis Vuitton started off to quoting poets and their philosophies, he opens up a whole new world to people. He isn't one to catch hold of you and give gyaan. But when you get chatty with him, he has interesting stories to tell. He taught me to be bold and take risks without an ounce of self-doubt, which is something I will always remember. It is good to be bad," says the 23-year-old actress.

http://images.mid-day.com/images/2016/jun/30Anand-L-Rai-SRK-s.jpg

Director-producer Aanand L. Rai, who is all set to start shooting for his next directorial venture starring actor Shah Rukh Khan, said that he did not cast Shah Rukh Khan because of his stardom but for the demand of the role.

Rai, who visited 10th NFDC Film Bazaar in Goa, said, "I always cast an actor based on the demand of the character. Casting Shah Rukh Khan is the demand of the role exactly the way it applied on Dhanush to play Kundan in 'Raanjhnaa' or Kangana Ranaut to play Tanu. It was never about making a film with a superstar."

http://images.mid-day.com/images/2015/jul/13-Shamita-Shetty_s.jpg

Actress Shamita Shetty, who became a household name with the Shah Rukh Khan-Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'Mohabbatein', failed to get any exciting offers even after the success of the film, prompting her to focus on television.

Shamita, however, feels that it's an exciting time to work in films and television as a lot of quality work is happening in both the mediums.

The actress had had made her Bollywood debut in Yash Raj Films' 'Mohabbatein' (2000). As she tried to survive in the film industry, some of her films clicked at the box office while some failed to evoke much response.

She gained more popularity by switching to television and participating in reality show, 'Bigg Boss'. Last year, Shamita participated in another popular dance reality show, 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded'.

Now the actress has been inundated with several television offers and she is also open for crossover films.

"I had not planned my career. Things just happened to work out this way. I got my first break in Mohabbatein. After that I didn't get any interesting offers, so I took a course in interior designing. But it's an exciting time to work in films and television because a lot of quality work is being done," Shamita said here.

http://images.mid-day.com/images/2016/nov/24Elena-Kazan-s.jpg

As soon as inmate Karan Mehra's elimination was announced in 'Bigg Boss 10' last week, his disgruntled co-contestants were hopeful of the television actor's return to the house as a probable wild-card entrant. Now, after six weeks of constant bickering among each other, the contestants will finally welcome this season's first wild-card entrants.

German-Russian actress Elena Kazan, whose last big screen outing was in Sriram Raghavan's Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor-starrer 'Agent Vinod' (2012), is set to make an entry in the house. Kazan first dabbled in films as a unit hand for an Australian movie in Kolkata and then went on to star opposite Prosenjit Chatterjee in the 2010 Bengali release, 'Clerk'.

It wasn't until 2013 that she bagged her first full-fledged role in the 2013 Hindi thriller, 'John Day'. She is currently working on a romantic drama titled 'Yun Hi' featuring Rohit Nayyar.

The nominations have been declared and now with crackling nervousness in the air, the contestants wake up to 'Sona Kitna Sona Hai'. As the morning progresses Manu tries to reason with Om Swami about his support towards Rohan, and tells him that his benefit lies in supporting Manu. Even before the luxury budget task is introduced, Bigg Boss assigns a secret task to Lopamudra and Manu, giving them a chance to compete for captaincy.*Rohan Mehra confronts Lopamudra Raut. *

Soon enough, Bigg Boss introduces the BB Gold Mine luxury budget task wherein Rohan is a businessman and the rest of the housemates are his Ghulams. These ghulams have been tasked with finding Gold for Rohan from the Gold Mine in the garden. On finding the gold, the ghulams have to collect it in a test tube and give it Rohan in his office, who will in turn weigh it and put it in his safe. Before the task begins, Bani warns Rohan to be careful because she has overheard Manu and Manveer making plans to sabotage the task.*Rahul Dev works during the task*

While the contestants strive hard to find gold for Rohan, Lopamudra and Manu strategise for the robbery. But Lopa is also trying to be careful that the robbery does not affect her friendship with Rohan. She also highlights that Rohan is already suspecting something fishy and has asked Lopa not to backstab him. But, Manu manages to calm her down.

*Om Swami engrossed in task*

But nothing goes as per plan. Rohan doubts Lopa's actions and doesn't allow her to dig for gold. Upset by Rohan's behaviour, Lopa gets into an argument with him. On the other hand, Nitibha tells Rohan that Lopa and Rahul might have been assigned a secret task because Bigg Boss had called them to the confession room in the morning. Rohan confronts Lopa, but she changes the topic by pointing out some of Rahul’s actions.

Om Swami enjoys digging for gold so much that he refuses to leave the mine. Rohan warns him that if he doesn't come out, he will be punished. Om Swami also irks Nitibha because of his behaviour. In fact, when she sees Rohan's indifference, she even gets into an argument with him.

Aamir Khan's forthcoming film 'Dangal' will have rapper Dilin Nair, who goes by the stage name Raftaar, rapping a solo track.

The track composed by Pritam is called 'Dhaakad' and features Raftaar singing in Haryanvi, Tamil and Telugu. It will release on Thursday.

"I believe lady luck is just shining on me. I'm pretty excited with the projects lined up so far. It has been my childhood dream to work alongside Aamir Khan and this is finally materialising. Moreover, I'm happy to be associated with a project that emphasises women empowerment as that's a cause I truly believe in," Raftaar said in a statement.

*Los Angele:* Singer John Legend has blamed red carpet photographers for exposing his wife and model Chrissy Teigen's wardrobe malfunction.

The Grammy Award-winning singer told news magazine Extra on Tuesday that while he and his wife were extra careful with the very revealing Yousef Akbar gown she sported to the 2016 American Music Awards, the photographer happened to catch a shot of her genitalia, reports dailymail.co.uk.

"Honestly, we were worried there might be that moment, so we checked it. We were watching her walk. I was like, 'It looks good. Looks like all is well'. But obviously, if a photographer is resourceful enough they can find that one moment ... the photographer had to get the exact perfect angle," Legend said.

The "All of me" singer said that he was enamoured with the way the 30-year-old model - who gave birth to the couple's first child Luna Simone in April - looked in the designer gown.

"I love the dress and I thought it was great," he said.

Legend was nonchalant about his spouse's exposure.

He said: "If people are enticed or excited by that, that's their thing. It's just a moment in time that was captured on film." Reported by Mid-Day 20 hours ago.
