Fusion Artist*
As a part of the United Nations Initiative -Peace One Day programme, musician and singer Karsh Kale will be performing. Karsh has an expertise in Indian classical music, rock, jazz fusion and hip hop which has led him to work with some of the most renowned artists around the globe. Raghav Chatterjee, well-known vocalist in contemporary Bengali and Indian music will be performing for Nana Ranger Gaan, an event on popular songs of Bengal. Raghav has lent his voice for playback in films like Devdas, Tere Naam, Raincoat and Parineeta and also in Bengali films Patal Ghor, Bandhan, Suvodristi, Bor Asbe Ekhuni and Chaturango. *Thumri recital*
Savita Devi and disciples will give a Thumri, Dadra recital. Savita Devi is the late Thumri exponent Siddheshwari's daughter and hails from Banaras. She has undergone comprehensive training under her mother and specialises in Thumri, Dadra, Chaiti, Kajri and Tappa. Venue: IHC, Lodhi Road, September 22.

Opera act
The Neemrana Music Foundation and Indian Council for Cultural Relations in collaboration with Institut Français will stage 'Orfeo, Crossing the Ganges', a five-act opera by Claudio Monteverdi. The original story of 'Orfeo' is the mythical love story of Orfeo and Eurydice, in which Orfeo's love takes him to Hell in search of his beloved, deceased wife. In order to get through the doors of Hell, Orfeo uses his talent of singing to charm the gods and those in hell.
Venue: Kamani Auditorium, Mandi House, September 25-27. Time: 7 pm.

Roads and lens*
Ways of the Road is a photography exhibition by Fabien Chaurau. The project is all about what the road means to photography. Fabien decided to follow the road and stop every kilometer to document what he saw. At every kilometre mark, he would shoot three images on three different film cameras - one of the roads, another of a person he met there and one of a landmark.
Venue: Alliance Francaise, Lodhi Estate, September 27 onwards.

*Exploring cinema*
Pix: The Iran Issue is a photography exhibition by 14 established and upcoming Iranian photographers, working within and outside Iran. The theme for the issue, 'The Interior', focuses on cinema and screen-writing. The photographs investigate notions of amnesia, censorship and identity through documentary, as well as staged formats. Venue: Max Mueller Bhavan, K G Marg, from September 20 - October 8. Time: 11 am to 7 pm.

*Paying homage*
K L Saigal is the play on the life, times, works and worth of the legendary singer, actor and the first superstar of the Indian Cinema. The play by Pierrot's Troupe, is a virtual re-creation of good old years of Indian music and cinema. The play features renowned theatre and cinema artiste Tom Alter in the lead. Khabsoorat Bahu is a Hindi comedy play by Merry Go Round Entertainment. It narrates the story on the overestimation and
submission to the beauty of the bride, romantic but frustrated groom, simpleton yet possessive aunt and the flirtatious and flattering village youth. Ab Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge is a Hindi comedy play about three young men from Punjab, Gujarat and Bihar staying in Delhi. One of them falls in love and marries his girlfriend without the permission of his family. Unfortunately, his dad comes over unexpectedly and since they can't tell him about
marriage, they all get into a mess and the situation becomes funnier day by day.

*Serious performance*
Raseele Thekedaar is a Hindi play by Dhruv Arts and Cultural Society. It revolves around the contractors and labourers involved in construction business. The play is about few drunkards, romantic and negligent contractors who are dedicated towards their work but with a casual approach. It shows the after effects of an accident caused due to negligence at work site and the direct impact on the lives of those dependent on the deceased. How do you survive when you suddenly find yourself at an airport in a major German city with no money and only a group ticket for the public transport network? Is necessity really the mother of all inventions? Jan Peters answers this question with a staged experiment which nevertheless documents reality in German film Nothing is better than nothing at all. Epic fantasy
Director Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is a film around Bilbo Baggins, who sets out on an unexpected journey to the Lonely Mountain with a spirited group of dwarves to reclaim their stolen mountain home from a dragon named Smaug. Venue: American Centre, K G Marg, September 20. Time: 6 pm.

*Historical influence*
La Battaglia Di Algeri (The Battle of Algeri) is a true-to-life chronicle of the Algerian people's struggle to overthrow the French Colonial Government in the mid-1950s. It is presented as a the memories of Ali, a leading member of the Algerian Front de Liberation Nationale (FLN) who was captured by the French in 1957. The film traces the rebels' struggle and the increasingly extreme measures taken by the French government to quell what soon becomes a nationwide revolt. Venue: Italian Embassy Cultural Institute, Chanakyapuri, September 21.

The World Wide Fund for Nature - India will screen the film The Greenhouse Effects that takes a look at current research in the impact of greenhouse gases on world climate patterns. Bay of Angels (La Baie des Anges) is a French film revolving around Jean Fournier, a young bank employee who becomes addicted to gambling. He decides to go on a vacation to Nice, where he falls in love with Jackie. Though Jackie enjoys Jean's company, she constantly warns him that his passion for gambling will always be greater. *Organic mela *
Dastkar, in partnership with Delhi Tourism, presents a vibrant basket of hand-picked organic and eco-friendly products in an all-natural Dastkar 'Green Mela'. The festival has organic cotton and woollen weaves, bags and accessories in banana, jute and khus. There will be a variety of organic food items too. Pottery, plants and flowers will also be available. Venue:

The All India Kitchen Garden Association presents Udyan Mela a daylong event where stalls will be selling fruit, vegetables and flowers, seeds, seedlings, plants, garden tools, organic items and mouth-watering pickles. There will also be live demonstrations on gardening, plant potting, bottle gardening and vegetable carving. Venue:

Exploring life*
Art Alive presents 'In other rooms', a solo show of recent works by Tara Sabharwal. Tara's watercolours and prints reflect upon the vicissitudes of her own life. *Ancient sculpture*
The National Museum in Delhi is showcasing exquisite 10th century stone sculpture of the Yogini - the female emblem of India's mystical cult - at a first ever single-object exhibition. The importance of the exhibition lies in the fact that the artefact was stolen from a temple in Uttar Pradesh and was acquired by a private art collector in Paris. Venue: National Museum, Janpath.

Creative Four*
Fantastic Four - is a group show by Asit Patnaik, Jagannath Paul, Devidas Dharmadhikari and Om Swami. Asit Patnaik's works have a certain sensitivity or sharing of feelings. Jagannath Paul brings out the drama of black and white by introducing solid blocks of paint. Om Swami is known for the fluidity and movements of his subjects while Devidas Dharmadhikari's work explores human sentiments. Venue: Pearl Art Gallery, New Friends Colony, till October 7. Metalwork*
Through the Looking Glass is an exhibition of sculptures and an installation work by the renowned Karachi-based sculptor Amin Gulgee. The show has 17 works, and one installation. Classical performance*

Meenu Thakur, along with her disciples of Suramya - an institute of performing arts will give a Kuchipudi recital. Meenu's style represents a combination of the feature of Purusha Sampradaya (original male dance tradition) of Kuchipudi and its Anuroopa (transformation of the male dance style into female interpretation). She has excellent command over technique and abhinaya. Venue: Epicentre, Gurgaon, September 20. Time: 7.30 pm

Narrative blends
Dancer Geeta Chandran's new abstract dance-theatre work Gandhi: Warp and Weft explores key concepts from Gandhian philosophy through the narrative lens of a female dancer in 21st century. Choreography plays with ideology through abstract movement as well as narrative gestures, and incorporates both classical Bharatanatyam as well as contemporary movement theatre in its physical vocabulary.
